Music Workshop Weekend With UC Students '24

Whether you sing, play an instrument, or compose, and no matter your genre (classical, jazz, pop, world music, rap...) or experience level, this workshop weekend is for you! 

You don't have to be studying music at school - if you are making music at home, this is a great chance to meet other young musicians.

A group of University of Canterbury music students and their tutors will be in Greymouth on the 12th and 13th of October, to work with high-school age* young people. They will be available to workshop your music and performances, and then on the Sunday, you can perform either your own piece, or with the students, or both, at a variety concert.

There will be singers, songwriters, composers, percussionists, pianists, flute players, string players, and more - all excited to be coming to meet some West Coast students, to have conversations about music and to support you with your music process.

This is an amazing opportunity, and there is no cost to you! 

Location: Greymouth High School

Times: 10am to 3:30pm Saturday 12th October and 10am to 3pm Sunday 13th October

What you need to bring/prepare: 

• Your instrument if you have one (we can arrange some instruments, so please let us know on the form what you would need help with).
• Your song or piece of music you are playing/working on that you want to get help with
• Your drink bottle
• We will provide food (lunch, fruit) but you might like to bring snacks for yourself, too

Saturday night, the UC students will be performing a really exciting concert, so make sure you come along to that, too!
